WWW: This is a mixed picture – you’ve attempted most of the work this term which is really positive but need to make sure we are fully finishing tasks and also being organised in terms of homework. Remember that Media is always open in break and lunch if you want to work in DF07 on catching up or getting ahead with blogwork.

EBI: Firstly, set aside some time to put this right – it may well take you a couple of hours. Work needs to be completed and posted – send me an email with the links to the finished work and I’ll update your tracker. You also need to use our blog more to help you – generally the answers to the questions are in the blogpost above the tasks and it’s about re-reading the notes and finding the correct bit of information. You also need to read the tasks carefully – on demographics and psychographics the final question was what group YOU feel you fit into. Look over this again and revise this topic.

  1)  The 'His Dark Materials' trailer meets the conventions of a TV drama series through the use of dramatic narrative, or narrative arc, which is when a specific story or plot line goes across the entire series. It also consists of an ensemble cast, meaning a range of different characters each with their own unique story lines or backstories. There are a variety of technical codes displayed throughout the trailer, including realistic lighting, different settings, point of view shots, dialogue voice overs, enigma and action codes throughout. Additionally, there are a number of stereotypical 'stock' characters which help to get story lines across quickly. 2)  The genres that are suggested by the 'His Dark Materials' trailer include fantasy, as it seems to be set in an eerie and dystopian world filled with sinister characters including somewhat supernatural beings.   1) Write a summary of the notes from our in-class analysis of the episode. You can use your own notes from the screening in class or  this Google document of class notes  (you'll need your GHS Google login).  Camerawork and sound: Music - theme tune to Doctor Who. Very science-fiction - sets genre from beginning. graphics on screen: title of show and episode.
